About the Role
We have three permanent full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist positions available at Waikato Hospital Laboratory. These roles are primarily based in either the Biochemistry department (two positions) or the Haematology department (one position). The successful candidates will work within a dynamic and supportive team, covering 24/7 rostered shifts that encompass all core disciplines.
As a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of diagnostic tests and ensuring the delivery of quality results. Your contributions will play a vital role in patient care within a collaborative environment. Additionally, for candidates with the appropriate skills, there may be opportunities for specialist training.
About the Team/Service
Our laboratory is a crucial part of the broader laboratory services at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato. We service inpatients, outpatients, and community patients in the Manawa Taki region. Our laboratory services are spread across five locations, including our central laboratory at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, along with satellite laboratories in Tokoroa, Thames, Taumarunui, and Te Kuiti hospitals.
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have registration with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC). We seek candidates with up-to-date knowledge of laboratory practices. Experience with Roche analysers, Sysmex Haematology analysers, and STAGO coagulation analysers is preferred.
You should possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to perform effectively under pressure are essential.
