About the Role We are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Bakery Assistant to join our team. This part-time position requires availability on Sundays and Mondays from 5 AM to 3 PM. We encourage applications only from candidates with at least one year of experience in a baking environment. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to further their skills in baking. As a Bakery Assistant, you will be responsible for several key tasks, including: - Assisting in loading and unloading deliveries to minimize waste - Storing baking supplies, equipment, utensils, and dishes in refrigerators, freezers, and other storage areas - Gathering food ingredients in preparation for baking - Ensuring the bakery department is clean, attractively presented, and compliant with legislative requirements, including pricing and labeling - Delivering excellent customer service - Packaging, pricing, and displaying baked goods such as breads, rolls, cakes, loaves, biscuits, and delicatessen products - Rotating stock and reducing items to clear if necessary - Cleaning equipment and areas, including the prover, ovens, chillers, and deli cases/freezers - Effectively displaying weekly specials and promotions - Stocking bags and packaging materials, and conducting stock takes as needed - Informing the Bakery Manager when supplies are low - Assisting in other store departments as required Requirements To be successful in this role, it is essential that you are physically fit and possess a good command of written and spoken English, as well as basic math skills.
