About the Role
We are seeking a part-time Respiratory Physician for a fixed-term position from December 2025 to February 2026. In this role, you will provide specialist care for patients with respiratory and sleep disorders throughout the Canterbury region. This opportunity arises to cover a three-month sabbatical and allows you to work within a supportive and highly skilled team of 12 Respiratory Physicians.
Your responsibilities will include providing inpatient, outpatient, and domiciliary care, as well as teaching and supervising registrars and junior doctors. You will also contribute to clinical audits and service improvement initiatives. If relevant to your expertise, you may have the opportunity to lead a subspecialty area in cystic fibrosis or interventional pulmonology (EBUS/medical thoracoscopy). This role is essential in supporting individuals across Canterbury and the West Coast to better manage their lung health and enhance their quality of life.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Hold (or be eligible for) specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or possess an equivalent international qualification.
- Have recent experience at the Senior Medical Officer level in managing acute respiratory patients.
- Ideally, have subspecialty training in cystic fibrosis or interventional pulmonology.
