About the Role
In your role as an Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality trauma care to patients in Otautahi Christchurch and the broader Te Waipounamu region. You will collaborate with a dedicated and experienced orthopaedic team, managing acute trauma cases while also contributing to the education of registrars and junior medical staff.
This position presents an exciting opportunity to work in a tertiary hospital environment with a high volume of complex trauma cases, allowing for both clinical challenges and professional fulfillment. Additionally, you will participate in an on-call roster, engage in clinical governance, and may have the opportunity to contribute to orthopaedic research and innovation.

About You
We seek a committed and experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon who possesses a special interest and expertise in trauma surgery. The ideal candidate will have:
- Vocational registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Orthopaedic Surgery
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or an equivalent qualification
- Advanced training and experience in orthopaedic trauma, preferably within a tertiary setting
- A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care and service development
- A passion for teaching and mentoring junior doctors and surgical trainees
