About the Role We are currently seeking a part-time support worker to join our residential home in Burnside, Christchurch. This role involves working 60 hours per fortnight across a four-week rotating roster, which includes both morning shifts (7 am to 3 pm) and evening shifts (3 pm to 11 pm), with weekend work required. In this position, you will empower our clients to achieve greater independence and enhance their quality of life. You will be an integral part of a team where each day presents new challenges and opportunities to make a positive impact in the lives of those we serve. You Will - Work closely with clients, utilizing your coaching skills to maximize their independence and encourage their involvement in activities, all while adhering to our organization's values and principles of active support. - Provide personal assistance with daily living tasks, including all aspects of personal care, such as hoisting, bowel care, and administering medications in accordance with LFBIT policy. - Receive training to support high needs care, including PEG/PEJ and tracheostomy care. Requirements - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to effectively coach and motivate others. - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments. - A genuine interest in helping others and working collaboratively with clients. - Skills in maximizing client independence while encouraging choice and participation in activities. - Effective time management abilities and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team. - A commitment to our organization's mission, vision, and values.
