About the Role We are looking for an experienced and passionate Clinical Midwife Manager to join our Maternity North team. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a dedicated midwife who is committed to delivering high-quality maternity care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for women and their whānau. In this role, you will provide expert clinical leadership and direction, overseeing the effective daily management of maternity services. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, supporting midwives, nurses, and healthcare assistants in their delivery of exceptional care. Key Responsibilities - Lead and manage the maternity ward team to ensure safe and high-quality maternity care. - Support and mentor midwives, nurses, and healthcare assistants in their clinical practice and professional development. - Oversee bed management, staffing allocation, and resource planning in collaboration with Midwifery Managers. - Ensure compliance with New Zealand Midwifery and Ministry of Health standards. - Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement, audit, and risk management. - Work in partnership with Lead Maternity Carers and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive maternity care. - Actively contribute to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in maternity care, ensuring equitable health outcomes for Māori women and their whānau. - Support the implementation of health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment. About You The ideal candidate will be a New Zealand Registered Midwife with a current Annual Practicing Certificate and a minimum of five years of recent clinical experience in a secondary or tertiary birthing facility. You should possess a strong understanding of the New Zealand Maternity Model of Care and Section 88, along with proven leadership experience and the ability to coordinate a team effectively.
