About the Emergency Department
Our Emergency Department at Middlemore Hospital is one of the busiest in Australasia, providing acute emergency services to approximately 130,000 adult and pediatric presentations each year. Located in a lower socio-economic area, we serve a culturally diverse population with complex health needs and high acuity presentations. We pride ourselves on fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce to better understand and meet the needs of our community.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced registered nurse with a passion for education and leadership to take on the role of Clinical Coach. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our nursing staff, advocating for best practices, and ensuring high-quality patient care within our busy Emergency Department.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Identifying learning needs and providing tailored coaching
- Mentoring and precepting new nurses
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to implement evidence-based practices
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (Proficient or Expert) to provide clinical guidance to both current and new graduate nurses across various areas of our Emergency Department, including the Adult Assessment, Monitored/Resus, Triage, Medical Assessment Units (MAU), Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU), and ED Short Stay areas. Requirements
Essential:
- New Zealand Registered Nurse
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Proficient/Expert level PDRP
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in ED/acute care
- Trained Preceptor
Desirable:
- Progress toward post-graduate qualification
- Strong knowledge and expertise in ED, Acute Care, Medical, or Surgical
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong coaching and teaching abilities
