About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Clinical Midwife Manager to join our Maternity South team. This role presents an exciting leadership opportunity for a dedicated midwife who is committed to delivering high-quality maternity care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for women and their whānau.
In the position of Clinical Midwife Manager, you will provide expert clinical leadership and direction, overseeing the effective day-to-day management of maternity services. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, supporting midwives, nurses, and healthcare assistants in delivering exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the maternity ward team to ensure safe and high-quality maternity care.
- Support and mentor midwives, nurses, and healthcare assistants in clinical practice and professional development.
- Oversee bed management, staffing allocation, and resource planning in collaboration with Midwifery Managers.
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand Midwifery and Ministry of Health standards.
- Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement, auditing, and risk management.
- Work in partnership with Lead Maternity Carers and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive maternity care.
- Actively contribute to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in maternity care, ensuring equitable health outcomes for Māori women and their whānau.
- Support the implementation of health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
About You
We are looking for an individual who meets the following requirements:
- Registered Midwife in New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
- A minimum of five years of recent clinical experience in a secondary or tertiary birthing facility.
- Demonstrated understanding of the New Zealand Maternity Model of Care and Section 88.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead and coordinate a team.
