About the Role
We are currently seeking an energetic and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with rangatahi to facilitate adventure-based learning and group activities, ultimately helping them build coping skills and connections. The position requires weekend work, totaling 32 to 40 hours every fortnight.
Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating therapeutic outdoor experiences such as tramping, camping, and group activities.
- Supporting adventure-based therapy programs that enhance connection and coping skills.
- Building strength-based and collaborative relationships with rangatahi, their whanau, and colleagues.
- Managing administrative tasks associated with outdoor experiences.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience delivering therapeutic group sessions in natural or outdoor environments.
- Relevant qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Occupational Therapy, Outdoor Recreation, or a related field, or be actively working towards these qualifications.
- Experience in the alcohol and other drugs (AOD), mental health, or criminal justice sectors.
- An understanding of and ability to honor Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
- Experience working with trauma and its impacts.
- Willingness to work overnight when off-site, such as during tramping or camping trips.
- A clean and full driver’s license.
- Availability to work one shift in the first week, with the potential to work a full weekend including overnight activities the following week.
