About the Role We are offering an exciting opportunity for a cardiologist to join our team at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand. This permanent, full-time position involves working across all facets of cardiac electrophysiology, including electrophysiology (EP) studies, ablation techniques (radiofrequency, pulsed field ablation, and cryo), 3D mapping (CARTO), device implants, outpatient clinics, and ward management. Our hospital performs over 300 EP studies and 600 device implants annually and features a dedicated EP lab alongside three additional pacing-capable labs shared with PCI. The successful candidate will collaborate with our experienced EP team in one of New Zealand’s leading cardiac centres and will have the chance to engage in ongoing research initiatives within the department. About the Team/Service/Location Waikato Hospital serves as a tertiary referral and teaching cardiac centre, offering a comprehensive range of adult cardiac services, including cardiac surgery, structural heart disease treatment, and complex coronary interventions for the Midland Region, which encompasses around 860,000 residents. Our department supports five regional secondary care hospitals and comprises a dynamic team of 17 cardiologists and five cardiac surgeons. We are equipped with four cardiac catheterization labs, including a dedicated electrophysiology lab and a custom-built hybrid lab that features fusion imaging capabilities. About You We are seeking to attract cardiologists with extensive training and experience. Ideal candidates will have completed advanced training in Cardiology (FRACP or equivalent) and be eligible for provisional vocational or vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. With approximately 722 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres, we provide a full spectrum of hospital services, including radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy services.
