Waikato Hospital is a leading tertiary training hospital located in the heart of Hamilton city, serving as a Level 1 Trauma Centre for the entire Waikato region. As one of the busiest hospitals in New Zealand, we perform approximately 200,000 examinations each year, with a strong emphasis on Emergency and Trauma imaging as well as Oncology. About the Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Breast Radiologist to join our Radiology department at Waikato Hospital. In this permanent, full-time position, you will be working 80 hours per fortnight.
The Breast Care Centre offers diagnostic and screening assessment clinics, supported by a dedicated team of Medical Imaging Technologists, breast surgeons, breast nurses, and clerical staff. Our department conducts weekly multidisciplinary meetings to discuss patient management and operates two mobile units to provide breast screening services across the Waikato and Midlands regions.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Reporting radiologic studies
- Supervising and teaching registrars
- Participating in oncology multidisciplinary meetings
- Interpreting and reporting imaging studies including CT, Ultrasound, X-Ray, and MRI
- Handling a diverse range of complex clinical cases, including general radiology and acute imaging
- Engaging in multidisciplinary meetings to ensure high standards of care
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should have:
- Experience in breast reporting
- Proficiency in performing breast biopsies and localization procedures using X-ray and ultrasound guidance
- Accreditation with BreastScreen Aotearoa or a willingness to achieve accreditation with our support
- A subspecialty fellowship or a strong interest in breast imaging
