Extrastaff is a reputable Labour Hire Company dedicated to connecting skilled professionals with exciting job opportunities in the construction industry. We are currently seeking full-time Structural Steel Fabricators to join our team and work on significant infrastructure and commercial projects throughout New Zealand.
About the Role
As a Structural Steel Fabricator, you will play a crucial role in the construction process by placing, securing, and tying structural steel components according to engineering plans. You will be responsible for ensuring that the installation meets safety standards and maintains structural integrity. This position is full-time and permanent, with site locations determined by project demands across New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Interpret engineering plans and drawings to accurately place and secure structural steel components.
- Tie reinforcement steel using appropriate techniques for various reinforcement systems.
- Collaborate effectively with site teams to ensure the timely and safe installation of steelwork.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and quality standards on-site.
- Work efficiently as part of a large construction team, often under strict deadlines.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you should possess:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working with structural steel placement and reinforcement tying, either locally or overseas.
- The ability to read and work from technical and engineering drawings.
- Strong physical fitness and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and quality control in steel construction.
- Experience with commercial, civil, or infrastructure construction projects is preferred.
- Relevant trade experience or qualifications will be advantageous.
Nationwide Opportunity and Travel
While this position is listed in Bay of Plenty, we are actively recruiting for roles across all regions of New Zealand, depending on project needs. The regions include:
North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
We encourage applicants from any of these regions and ask that candidates be willing to travel or relocate as necessary. The company will cover relocation costs for successful candidates.
Benefits
We offer competitive pay ranging from $25.00 to $32.00 per hour, with a minimum of 30 hours guaranteed per week. This is a full-time, permanent role that includes the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools. You will have the opportunity to work on major infrastructure and commercial projects, enhancing your skills and career development.
