About the Role
We are currently seeking an Apprentice Mechanic to join our Fleet Services Group. This team is responsible for maintaining a diverse fleet that includes mobile harbour cranes, heavy forklifts, container handlers, trucks, trailers, and utility vehicles. In this role, you will benefit from the guidance of experienced trade-qualified staff and learning providers, allowing you to develop your skills both practically and theoretically.
As an Apprentice Mechanic, you will engage in hands-on learning and assessment while gaining practical experience in our Port workshop. You will work alongside qualified professionals and pursue an NZQA accredited automotive heavy equipment trade qualification.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Technical school qualifications, specifically NCEA Level 2 in subjects such as Maths, Physics, and English
- A relevant pre-trade qualification
- Relevant work experience in fields such as automotive, mechanical, engineering, or electronics
- A minimum Class 1 driver’s license

- A strong interest in mechanical servicing and comfort working at heights, including tasks related to elevated work platforms and mobile harbour crane servicing
