About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated Sterilising Technician to join our team within the perioperative services at Whangarei Hospital. In this permanent, full-time position, you will work 40 hours per week, providing essential sterile stock to various wards and departments, including Theatre.
As a Sterilising Technician, your responsibilities will include maintaining adequate supplies of backup stock, ensuring an efficient decontamination and sterilisation service, and supplying external customers with their sterile stock requirements. This role is crucial in supporting optimal health outcomes for our patients.

About You
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
- Strong numeric and literacy skills
- Customer service experience
- A well-developed understanding of Occupational Health and Safety principles and their application in the workplace
Preferred qualifications include:
- Completion of a Certificate in Sterilising Technology
- Competency under Unit Standards 31290.1 and 31293.1
- Effective application of Infection Control principles
- Experience in a sterilising unit
- Familiarity with policies and procedures related to sterilisation processes
