About the Role
We are excited to announce a fixed-term leadership opportunity for a Unit Charge Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT) at Waikato Hospital, lasting until October 6, 2026. In this role, you will lead a multidisciplinary team within our medical imaging service, focusing on delivering safe, high-quality imaging services to our patients.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing staff training, ensuring adherence to imaging protocols, and collaborating closely with various teams, including Radiologists, Clinics (such as Plastics, Respiratory, Orthopaedics), Wards, and General Practitioners. You will guide the imaging staff, manage workflow, and ensure that all procedures are clinically appropriate and executed to the highest technical standards. Your leadership will help maintain our commitment to collaborative care and continuous improvement in patient outcomes.
About the Team
Our Medical Imaging team consists of nearly 50 MITs who provide a wide array of diagnostic imaging services across multiple specialties. We pride ourselves on our collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, focusing on clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and the development of our staff.

About You
We are looking for a Unit Charge MIT who combines technical expertise with leadership experience. Your passion for safe imaging practices and commitment to team development will be vital to your success in this role. Ideal candidates will have:
- Registration with the relevant professional body and a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Demonstrated experience in diagnostic radiography, including fluoroscopy and outpatient imaging
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical imaging setting
- Strong ability to train, mentor, and support MITs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across clinical disciplines
