    About the Company At Spectrum Care, we operate a vocational support service in Lower Hutt dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities. Our clients are young, vibrant individuals eager to carve out their place in the world. We are committed to providing them with the support they need to pursue their dreams and engage meaningfully with their local communities. About the Role We are currently seeking a part-time Community Support Worker to join our team. This role involves 30 hours of work per week, with a pay range of $23.50 to $29.10 per hour. As a Community Support Worker, you will engage in a variety of dynamic tasks tailored to the unique needs and aspirations of each individual we support. Your responsibilities will include helping individuals make friends, enjoy their interests, and contribute to their communities while facilitating their personal growth and meaningful experiences. Our clients have high support needs, and we are looking for individuals who can see beyond their disabilities to recognize their potential and individuality. Requirements We are looking for candidates who are dynamic and bring a variety of interests and skills to the role. Whether your passion lies in drama, music, art, dance, entrepreneurship, environmental work, horticulture, hospitality, sports, or something else entirely, we want individuals who are well-connected within their communities and can help others connect as well. The ideal candidate will possess the following: - Empathy for the challenges faced by individuals living with disabilities. - Energy to keep up with active individuals. - The ability to remain calm and reassuring in all situations. - Resilience to help clients maintain boundaries for their safety. - Strong negotiation and explanation skills. - Effective communication abilities with clients, families, and colleagues. - Willingness to assist with personal care and daily living skills. Additional qualifications include: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. - Ability to pass a New Zealand police check. - Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or mental health challenges is desirable but not mandatory. - Reliability, commitment, and a passion for working with people. - A full New Zealand driver's license is essential. - An interest in pursuing a Community Support Worker Level Three or higher qualification, which we can help you achieve while you work. - Proficiency in using computers, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email.
