About the Role We are seeking a Support Worker to join our forensic residential service, which supports tangata whaiora as they transition from inpatient care to community living. Given that our forensic service caters to individuals with high needs, it is essential to build strong relationships with both tangata whaiora and their whānau. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals on their recovery journey, helping to improve their well-being and enabling them to live meaningful lives. Your responsibilities will include supporting daily living tasks such as meal preparation and clean-up, engaging in activities, and assisting with medication when necessary. You will also focus on the individual needs of our clients, ensuring culturally safe practices. Additionally, you will be responsible for completing relevant administrative tasks, maintaining comprehensive notes, providing effective handovers to the next shift, and supporting and collaborating with your colleagues. This position requires working Sunday to Thursday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, based in Christchurch. About You We are looking for someone who believes in a person-centered approach and recognizes the positive impact of recovery-focused practices. You should possess either the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, you must hold a current and full driver’s license, as well as a comprehensive first aid certificate covering units 6400, 6401, and 6402, or be willing to obtain one within three months of employment. A strong commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and excellent relationship-building skills are essential. We are looking for a supportive and collaborative team player.
