About the Company
Te Atea Marino is a Regional Māori addiction service operating under the umbrella of Whitiki Maurea, which is part of the Waitemata District Health Board's Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Group. Our mission is to reduce the burden of addiction and related harm on Māori people in Tamaki Makaurau, from Tehana to Mercer. We are dedicated to weaving Mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge and worldview) with evidence-based clinical interventions to provide an integrated, high-quality approach to managing substance-related harm.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Clinical Supervisor to join our team. This permanent full-time position, requiring 40 hours of work per week from Monday to Friday, is based in Central and West Auckland. If you have a passion for serving Māori who face addiction-related challenges and wish to be part of a culturally responsive service, we encourage you to consider this important role.
In this position, you will lead the integration of Mātauranga Māori with clinical practice. You will deepen your leadership and clinical skills while making a significant difference in the lives of those we support. Your work will focus on providing a safe, mana-enhancing experience for all tangata whai i te ora affected by alcohol, drugs, and other addiction issues.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A health-related tertiary qualification and current registration with your professional body
- A relevant supervision qualification, registered as such, or be a DAPAANZ accredited supervisor
- Proven experience in the counselling field, particularly within the alcohol and drug sector
- Excellent supervisory skills, with the ability to teach, coach, and support staff
- A commitment to fostering the growth of students and staff, enhancing their knowledge and skills for therapeutic practice
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with senior staff, community stakeholders, and local District Mental Health teams
- Strong report writing and documentation skills, along with attention to detail and effective time management
- The ability to set high standards and clear expectations for staff and student performance
- Conflict management and negotiation skills
- A positive and motivating leadership style, particularly in supporting the clinical team's daily operations
