Description
About the Company
Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa is a national provider of mental health, addiction, disability, offender rehabilitation, wellbeing, and housing services. We believe in the potential of every individual to lead fulfilling lives within their chosen communities. Our commitment is to support whanau in becoming the best versions of themselves in every aspect of our work.
About the Role
We are excited to offer a full-time permanent position for a Community Support Worker within our Deaf Mental Health Service. This role encompasses a 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
In this position, you will cultivate strong, trusting relationships with tangata whaiora (clients), assisting them in developing and maintaining essential living skills, relationships, and daily activities. Your support will empower clients to achieve their goals and actively engage in their communities.
A key requirement for this role is fluency in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL). While verbal communication skills are not mandatory, they would be advantageous for coordinating appointments, advocating for clients in health settings, and addressing urgent situations. Although NZSL will be your primary mode of communication, having verbal skills will facilitate liaising with external services, ensuring safety, and promoting effective team communication.
About You
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated individual who is eager to make a positive impact and embodies our core values. To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Fluency in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and strong verbal communication skills are essential
- A National Certificate in Mental Health Support Work Level 4 or an equivalent qualification
- At least two years of experience in mental health, addiction, intellectual disability, or social services within New Zealand
- A full, clean New Zealand driver's license
- The ability to build meaningful relationships with clients and whanau through diverse communication styles
We Offer
At Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa, you will be welcomed into a warm and safe environment that celebrates diversity and lived experiences. We value our staff and offer a range of benefits, including:

- Generous leave entitlements, including wellbeing days, study leave, and cultural leave
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme, which includes counselling services, budgeting support, and mental health services
- Discounts on health, fitness, technology, and retail services
Join us in making a meaningful difference every day. Apply your skills at Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa and take pride in working for one of Aotearoa's largest for-purpose organizations, where our values guide our actions.
