About the Company
At Forensic Mental Health Northland, we provide a comprehensive range of services designed to support individuals with mental health issues, particularly those involved in the judicial system. Our offerings include secure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services, community rehabilitation connections, specialized programs for offenders with intellectual disabilities, court liaison, and prison mental health services. We also serve the Northland Region Corrections Facility and the surrounding community.
About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Social Worker to join our Regional Forensic Psychiatry Team. This permanent, part-time position offers 24 hours of work per week, Monday through Friday, based primarily at the Northland Regional Corrections Facility in Kaikohe. Our team is dedicated to addressing the mental health needs of offenders, and we seek an individual with a minimum of two years of mental health experience.
In this role, you will be a key member of the Forensic Service, focusing on mental health assessments and providing follow-up care to a caseload of prisoners with major mental illnesses. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team in a custody environment, aiding individuals who often have complex mental health needs.
We value strong communication and networking skills, as well as a genuine interest in mental health and the judicial system. Our organization supports your professional development through supervision, ongoing training opportunities, and encourages membership in the Australian and New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW) as a Registered Social Worker.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should possess the following attributes:
