About the Role
We are currently seeking a permanent, full-time Cook for our Christchurch Residential Services. In this role, you will be part of a dedicated team focused on empowering individuals with disabilities to lead lives characterized by choice, freedom, and independence. What does a Cook do?
As a Cook, your responsibilities will include preparing daily meals for the individuals we support, following their service plans. You will also conduct food satisfaction surveys as directed by the Service Manager. Adhering to established schedules for cooking, baking, sanitation, and other related activities is essential. This may involve meal preparation for future service by staff.
You will enhance the dining experience by maintaining and updating the dining area, including the visual menu board. Additionally, you will support individuals in maintaining their independence by encouraging and assisting them with meal preparation according to their support plans. You will also be responsible for planning menus that meet nutritional and budgetary needs, consulting with family members, healthcare providers, and nutrition advisors as necessary.
Requirements
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about helping others and possess a kind and understanding demeanor. The ideal candidate will have:
- A National Certificate in Hospitality (Basic Cookery) at Level 3
- Six months to one year of experience working in a healthcare environment or aged care facility
- Experience in cooking for large groups
- The ability to work within an agreed budget
- Knowledge and understanding of IDDSI standards
- A full driver's license
- Flexibility to work overnight shifts on a roster, including weekends

Benefits
We offer competitive pay rates ranging from $23.50 to $29.10 per hour. The working hours are Monday to Friday from 8 am to 2 pm.
