About the Role
We are currently seeking a full-time Orthoptist for a fixed-term position at Christchurch Hospital, covering parental leave until March 2026. This role involves both pediatric and adult orthoptic assessment, diagnosis, and management. Responsibilities include conducting visual fields tests, cataract pre-assessments (IOL Master), ultrasound biometry, corneal topography, fundal and anterior segment photography, as well as general ophthalmic clinic duties.
We welcome applications from both recent graduates and experienced Orthoptists who possess strong clinical skills and have experience with ophthalmic technical equipment. You will be joining a supportive team of Registered Nurses, Ophthalmic Assistants, Orthoptists, Optometrists, and Ophthalmic Technicians, and you will work closely with our specialized Ophthalmologists in areas such as Pediatrics and Neuro-Ophthalmology. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a diverse range of clinical practices and eye pathologies not commonly encountered in community settings.
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of technical equipment, enabling a smooth transition into our dynamic team of allied eye professionals and nursing staff. Our work encompasses pediatric and adult strabismus assessments, cataract assessments (IOL Master and ultrasound biometry), visual fields testing (Goldmann and Humphrey), corneal topography (Pentacam), OCT, Optos, general ophthalmic duties, auditing, and research practices.
This fixed-term position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week.
