We are currently seeking an experienced Clerical Reliever to join our Chronic Conditions Services at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton.
About the Role
In this permanent, full-time position, you will work 80 hours per fortnight, from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM. As a Clerical Reliever, your primary responsibility will be to provide coverage for planned and unplanned absences, as well as during periods of increased workload within our administration teams for Renal, Rheumatology, Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Pain services.
Your day-to-day tasks will involve processing patient referrals, booking appointments, managing administrative duties, and collaborating with clinical staff to support patient care. You will also be responsible for ensuring that patients feel welcomed and supported upon arrival for their appointments.
Key Responsibilities
The Clerical Reliever role is vital for the smooth operation of the Chronic Conditions Services. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Accurately and promptly carrying out administrative activities
- Maintaining up-to-date records and waitlists for patients awaiting care
- Booking patient appointments in the patient management system
- Processing referrals efficiently
- Responding to patient inquiries regarding appointments and liaising with clinical teams
- Covering reception duties as needed

About You
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data entry, typing, and email communication
- Previous administrative experience
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Attention to detail
- Experience in a healthcare environment or familiarity with clinical terminology is advantageous, but not required
