About the Role
We are offering a unique and impactful opportunity for a Brachytherapy Fellow within one of New Zealand's busiest brachytherapy services. In this role, you will gain advanced clinical experience in a supportive and dynamic radiation oncology environment. You will receive hands-on training in both prostate and gynaecological brachytherapy techniques, working within a well-established multidisciplinary team.
Our brachytherapy service is recognized for its commitment to teaching, collaboration, and innovation. You will be involved in registrar teaching and clinical research while benefiting from mentorship by a respected team of experts. Additionally, you will have the chance to participate in research opportunities and present your findings at conferences, supported by our academic focus and international connections.
About the Team / Service / Location
The Canterbury Regional Cancer and Haematology Service (CRCHS) provides radiation services to a regional population of approximately 700,000. Our radiation oncology department is composed of 11 radiation oncologists, 13 medical oncologists, 6 haematologists, 4 palliative care physicians, and a skilled multidisciplinary team.
Equipped with four linear accelerators, HDR brachytherapy capability, and a robust stereotactic program, our department offers a comprehensive training experience. Our training program is fully accredited by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), with 11 accredited training positions for registrars. We also support medical students from the University of Otago’s Christchurch School of Medicine.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will need to:
- Hold a FRANZCR or an equivalent qualification, or be nearing completion of fellowship training by February 2026
- Be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Have an interest in or experience with brachytherapy procedures
- Be enthusiastic about clinical research and medical education
