About the Role We are seeking an Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon to join our team at Christchurch Hospital for a one-year, full-time fixed-term position. In this critical role, you will provide high-quality trauma care to patients in Otautahi Christchurch and the broader Te Waipounamu region. You will collaborate with a dedicated and experienced orthopaedic team, managing acute trauma cases while also contributing to the education of registrars and junior medical staff. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a tertiary hospital environment that handles a high volume of complex trauma cases. You will engage in clinical challenges that provide professional satisfaction, participate in an on-call roster, and have the chance to be involved in clinical governance. About You We are looking for a committed and experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon with a strong interest and expertise in trauma surgery. The ideal candidate will possess: - Vocational registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Orthopaedic Surgery - Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or an equivalent qualification - Advanced training and experience in orthopaedic trauma, preferably within a tertiary setting - A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care and service development - A passion for teaching and mentoring junior doctors and surgical trainees Working at Health New Zealand At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we are dedicated to providing excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
