About the Role We are seeking an Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon to join our team at Christchurch Hospital for a one-year, full-time fixed-term position. In this critical role, you will provide high-quality trauma care to patients in Otautahi Christchurch and the broader Te Waipounamu region. You will collaborate with a dedicated and experienced orthopaedic team, managing acute trauma cases while also contributing to the education of registrars and junior medical staff. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a tertiary hospital environment that handles a high volume of complex trauma cases. You will engage in clinical challenges that provide professional satisfaction, participate in an on-call roster, and have the chance to be involved in clinical governance. Additionally, there are opportunities for you to contribute to orthopaedic research and innovation. About the Team, Service, and Location Our Orthopaedic Department at Christchurch Hospital is one of the largest and most respected in New Zealand, known for excellence in trauma care and surgical training. We cultivate a collaborative team culture with strong working relationships across both surgical and emergency services. About You We are looking for a committed and experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon with a strong interest and expertise in trauma surgery. The ideal candidate will possess: - Vocational registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Orthopaedic Surgery - Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or an equivalent qualification - Advanced training and experience in orthopaedic trauma, preferably within a tertiary setting - A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care and service development - A passion for teaching and mentoring junior doctors and surgical trainees Working at Health New Zealand At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we are dedicated to providing excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
