About the Role
We are currently seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our WellFood Department at the Hillmorton Health Campus in Christchurch. This is a permanent part-time position, offering 16 hours per week, with specific hours and days to be agreed upon.
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping to nourish our turoro (patients) and whanau (family). You will be responsible for ensuring that each patient’s needs are met to the highest standard. This includes following standardized recipes, using your creative flair to present appealing meals, and maintaining clean and tidy work areas. Some light cooking and meal preparation for our meal delivery service will also be part of your duties. The starting salary for this position is $27.80 per hour, based on the Etu Multi-Employer Collective Agreement.
Requirements
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and flexible individual who is passionate about food and eager to contribute to our Hillmorton facility.

- A friendly, positive attitude with the ability to maintain speed without compromising quality
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail
You will also be responsible for adhering to our Food Control Plan, Health New Zealand’s code of conduct, and Health and Safety procedures. Full training will be provided to all new staff.
