About the Role We are seeking a full-time Physiotherapist to join our Older Persons Mental Health (OPMH) team at Burwood Campus. This role is part of the Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation division at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Waitaha, and is based at Burwood Hospital. Our Burwood Physiotherapy Team consists of 65 Physiotherapists and 15 Physiotherapy Assistants divided into three specialty teams: Musculoskeletal, Neurology, and Older Persons. The OPMH cluster includes two dedicated OPMH wards and four Older Persons Rehabilitation wards. As a vital member of the OPMH Inpatient Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive patient assessments and developing patient-centered, goal-oriented treatment plans. Your focus will be on enhancing function, wellbeing, and facilitating safe discharges for our patients. The treatment plans will include both individual sessions and group activities, such as daily exercise and relaxation classes. You will collaborate closely with a full-time Physiotherapy Assistant and another Physiotherapist situated in the OPMH day clinic. Our team fosters a supportive culture across the OPH cluster, providing opportunities to engage with different areas as required for clinical needs. Key Responsibilities - Conduct effective patient assessments, evaluations, and treatments in line with established policies, procedures, and standards of practice. - Develop treatment interventions that cater to individual patient needs in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team. - Maintain effective communication with members of the physiotherapy team and the broader multidisciplinary team. About You We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist who has worked in an Older Persons Rehabilitation setting. You will be the full-time Physiotherapist in Older Persons Mental Health based in Ward AG/BG. While we will provide full support and orientation, it is essential that you possess: - Registration with the New Zealand Physiotherapy Board, along with a current Annual Practicing Certificate. - A minimum of 18 months of relevant experience. - The ability to deliver high-quality care with passion and energy. - Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate close working relationships with physiotherapy assistants and the wider physiotherapy team. - Flexibility and adaptability, along with enthusiasm for sharing knowledge across disciplines. - Willingness to work across various rehabilitation areas as needed in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. - Eligibility to participate as an ENABLE assessor or registration as such. - Availability to partake in the weekend roster, with specific scheduling negotiable.
