About the Role
Our Physiotherapy team at Christchurch Hospital is seeking an experienced physiotherapist to join our dynamic, multi-disciplinary team within the Emergency Department and Orthopaedic Acute Care. In this role, you will serve as a primary contact physiotherapist, assessing patients who have not yet received a medical evaluation, as well as those referred by the medical teams.
You will work 10-hour shifts between 7:30 AM and 8:00 PM, covering a 7-day service. We will provide a comprehensive induction to the Emergency Department and ongoing support to ensure your success in the role.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality physiotherapy assessments and management for patients with diverse and complex conditions in both the Emergency Department and Orthopaedic Acute Care.
- Providing specialist guidance, advice, and education to patients, families/whanau, students, staff, and the inter-professional team within the Emergency Department and the wider musculoskeletal inpatient cluster.
Requirements
To excel in this position, you should be a team player with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an acute setting. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet, allowing you to work flexibly with a varied workload.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, particularly under pressure.
- Competence in te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori, or a commitment to beginning your journey towards this knowledge and taking ownership of your professional growth.
- Registration with the New Zealand Physiotherapy Board is essential, along with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
