About the Role
We are currently seeking a Multi-Skilled Repair Technician to join our team. This position involves performing a range of repair and maintenance tasks across various domains, including shoe repair, key cutting, engraving, watch repair, and tool sharpening. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, strong customer service skills, and a keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
In the area of shoe repair, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring different types of footwear. This includes replacing soles and heels, stitching and patching leather or synthetic materials, and advising customers on repair options and care recommendations.
For key cutting, you will accurately cut keys using both mechanical and electronic key-cutting machines for domestic use, automotive applications, and security purposes.
As part of the engraving duties, you will engrave text and images on various surfaces, including metal, glass, and plastic, utilizing both manual and computer-aided engraving tools.
In watch repair, your responsibilities will include performing basic repairs such as battery replacements, strap adjustments, and minor mechanical repairs.
You will also be tasked with sharpening knives, scissors, garden tools, and other blades using grinding and honing equipment.
Additional duties will include maintaining and calibrating equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety, managing inventory of materials and parts, keeping the workshop area clean and organized, and handling transactions if working in a retail context.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have a minimum of 6 months of full-time (or 12 months of part-time) relevant work experience. A Level 4 qualification in a related field may substitute for the required work experience.
Other Details
This is a full-time, permanent position with a pay rate ranging from $25 to $30 per hour, based on skills and experience. Wages are paid weekly. Holiday pay and sick leave will be provided in accordance with New Zealand employment law. The position is based in Auckland, and you will work 5 to 6 days per week on a rostered schedule, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week and a maximum of 48 hours.
