    About the Company Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Nelson Marlborough is seeking two experienced Ophthalmologists to join our dedicated Ophthalmology department. We are a large health service provider with approximately 3,000 employees, serving nearly 150,000 people across the Nelson, Tasman, and Marlborough regions. Our facilities include four hospitals and several community health centers. About the Role We are offering two permanent part-time positions, each at 0.7-0.8 FTE (56-64 hours per fortnight), with an on-call allowance. The successful candidates will cover the district-wide services in the Nelson Marlborough regions. You will deliver quality ophthalmological care, participate in the on-call roster, and work within a multidisciplinary team comprising fellow ophthalmologists, specialty nurses, orthoptists, optometrists, and technicians. The role will primarily be based at Nelson Hospital, which is situated in a stunning region known for its exceptional natural landscapes, outdoor activities, and vibrant lifestyle. Requirements To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes: - Medical expertise with a focus on improving health in the Nelson Marlborough District. - Ability to work independently as a specialist in a provincial district. - Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists or an equivalent qualification. - Eligibility for an Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Ophthalmology from the Medical Council of New Zealand. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team. - A commitment to continuing professional development and quality improvement. Benefits The remuneration for this position will be based on the current Senior Medical and Dental Officer collective agreement, depending on your skills, experience, and vocational registration in New Zealand. In addition to your salary, you will receive a generous annual allowance for continued medical education expenses, including travel and accommodation costs for conferences. You will also have access to an employer-matched superannuation contribution of up to 6% of your annual earnings.
