About the Company
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the largest tertiary care center and clinical research facility in New Zealand. We are dedicated to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders, firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Our commitment extends to ensuring excellent healthcare and fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
About the Role
We are currently seeking applications from registrars or fellows interested in training and working within New Zealand's national heart transplant and mechanical support program. This role presents a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive training in heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and the management of patients with end-stage heart failure, who are referred from across the country.
The position is a fixed-term, full-time opportunity, comprising 0.6 FTE focused on advanced heart failure management, with an additional 0.4 FTE allocated for pursuing a sub-specialty interest within cardiology, such as imaging or cardiovascular research. The latter will require discussions regarding appropriate research grant applications with the University of Auckland Heart Health Research Group. The role is set to commence in February 2026 or shortly thereafter, as mutually agreed upon.
For further details about this opportunity, please reach out to Dr. Tom Pasley or Dr. Cara Wasywich at the Auckland City Hospital Cardiology Department.
