About the Role
In this position, you will benefit from working in a smaller hospital environment, gaining valuable experience in general and acute medicine alongside a supportive team of consultants, house officers, medical students, and nursing staff. Your roster will provide ample opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Rotorua region, which is known for its longer summers and shorter winters.
We offer House Officer positions in various departments, including:
- General Medicine
- General Surgery
- Emergency Medicine
- Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Paediatrics
- Orthopaedics
- Psychiatry
Additionally, our community-based attachments extend to local medical centres such as Ranolf Medical Centre, Korowai Aroha, Ngāti Pikiao, Ngongotaha, Westend, Western Heights, Te Ngae, and Rural Taupo Hospital.
About the Location
Lakes is situated in the central North Island of New Zealand - Aotearoa. Rotorua is approximately 230 kilometers (143 miles) southeast of Auckland, while Taupo is about 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Rotorua. This region is a geothermal wonderland, featuring scenic lakes, including Lake Taupo, the largest lake in New Zealand. Rotorua and Taupo are popular destinations for hiking, mountain biking, and water sports, as well as traditional experiences where you can learn about Māori culture.

Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need to have:
- MCNZ registration or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
- Completion of at least two years of clinical experience.
