About the Role
As a Steel Fixer, you will play a crucial role in our projects across the country. Flexibility in work locations is preferred, as you may be required to assist on various project sites.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using fasteners, rod bending machines, blow torches, or hand tools.
- Spacing and fastening rods in forms according to blueprints, utilizing wire and pliers.
- Determining quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods based on blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.
- Placing blocks under rebar to ensure proper height when reinforcing floors.
- Cutting rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or acetylene torches.
- Cutting and fitting wire mesh or fabric, using hooked rods, and positioning fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce it.
- Bending steel rods with hand tools or rod bending machines and welding them with arc-welding equipment.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should have:
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience in steel fixing or a qualification equivalent to NZQF level 2 or 3.
- A friendly demeanor, strong time management skills, and an excellent work ethic.
- A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry.
- A sound knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a hardworking attitude.
Benefits
We offer competitive pay rates ranging from a minimum of $26 per hour to a maximum of $40 per hour. A minimum of 30 hours of work is guaranteed each week.
Please note that you may be required to travel occasionally to various locations including Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Whanganui-Manawatu, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
This position is a permanent, full-time role.
