About the Role
We are seeking organized and trustworthy individuals who take pride in their workmanship. As a Welder, you will play a crucial role in our projects, which may require you to work across different locations throughout New Zealand. Flexibility in work locations is preferred, as you may be asked to travel to assist with various assignments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Familiarity with multiple welding techniques and equipment
- Working with various metals and utilizing hand tools, power tools, specialist welding tools, and heavy machinery
- Igniting torches and starting power supplies to complete electrical circuits during welding processes
- Operating safety equipment and adhering to safe work habits
- Detecting faulty equipment or defective materials and notifying supervisors
- Monitoring fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, distortion, or expansion of materials
- Setting up and operating hand and power tools, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment
- Analyzing engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work orders to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
- Welding with aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys, as needed
- Selecting and installing torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux based on welding chart specifications
- Adjusting gas flow and pressure to achieve desired flames
- Guiding and directing flames or electrodes to manipulate metal as required
- Performing additional duties as assigned
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant welding experience or a welding qualification equivalent to NZQA Level 4
- Strong time management skills and a commitment to maintaining a positive work ethic
- A willingness to learn and develop skills within the industry
- Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
Benefits
We offer a competitive pay range from a minimum of $27.76 per hour to a maximum of $30 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work each week. This role is permanent and full-time.
Location
Candidates should be prepared to work in various locations across New Zealand, including but not limited to Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Whanganui-Manawatu, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
