About the Role
We are currently seeking a Radiologist to join our team at Gisborne Hospital in a permanent full-time position. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a community of approximately 47,000 people. The department offers a mix of inpatient, emergency, and outpatient imaging, with a workload that consists of 70% clinical responsibilities and 30% non-clinical duties.
Key responsibilities include interpreting medical exams, triaging imaging requests, consulting with referring clinicians, and supporting our radiology technology staff. Participation in the on-call roster is required, currently structured as 'at home call' once every four nights. While light interventions and mammography are optional, there are opportunities for you to teach local medical and surgical house officers, as well as radiology registrars within the Midlands Region.
As a successful candidate, you will work closely with our Head of Department and other team members to develop new imaging services and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within our Radiology Department. You will also have the unique opportunity to be part of a new era at Gisborne Hospital with the establishment of a state-of-the-art medical imaging research center, the Matai Medical Research Institute, which aims to advance our understanding of mild traumatic brain injury and could position Gisborne as a world leader in MRI technology.
