About the Role
We are currently seeking an Enrolled Nurse for a permanent, full-time position in the Outpatients Department - Surgical Services at Whangarei Hospital. This role requires a commitment of 40 hours per week.
As an Enrolled Nurse, you will take accountability for your own practice, ensuring that you provide the best possible outcomes for our clients. You will deliver safe and effective client care by leveraging your professional knowledge and skills. Working under the direction and delegation of a registered nurse or nurse practitioner, you will provide nursing care and health education across various settings, including community, residential, and hospital environments.
Your responsibilities will include contributing to nursing assessments, care planning, implementation, and the evaluation of care for patients (turoro/tangata whai ora) and their families (whanau). You will deliver nursing care in accordance with your level of competence and scope of practice. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work in a supportive and welcoming environment within the Surgical Outpatients Department on the Whangarei Hospital campus.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our team consists of skilled orthopaedic specialists who deliver high-quality outpatient care, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal conditions. The orthopaedic department offers expert care for a diverse range of bone, joint, and muscle issues, helping our patients restore mobility and improve their quality of life.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess strong assessment and communication skills, along with the ability to thrive in a team environment. We seek someone who is flexible, adaptable, and capable of confidently prioritizing tasks in a dynamic setting.
Key requirements include:
- Registration as a New Zealand Enrolled Nurse and possession of an annual practicing certificate
- A professional nursing portfolio aligned with the Nursing Council of New Zealand competencies for Enrolled Nurses
- Proficient computer skills
- The ability to develop innovative solutions to problems
- Knowledge of quality improvement processes and principles, as well as nursing professional development issues
