Construction Technicians Wanted in Nelson - Tasman

About the Company At Extrastaff, we are a dedicated Labour Hire Company committed to connecting skilled workers with exciting opportunities in the construction industry. We are currently seeking full-time Construction Technicians to join our team for various infrastructure and commercial projects across New Zealand. About the Role In this full-time, permanent position, you will be deployed to different construction sites based on project demand. We offer competitive pay ranging from a minimum of $26.00 to a maximum of $40.00 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work each week. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools will be provided, as you work on significant infrastructure and commercial projects. Key Responsibilities As a Construction Technician, your responsibilities will include: - Performing tasks that align with your skills and capabilities to support our business needs. - Complying with all aspects of project contracts and delivering customer service that meets or exceeds expectations. - Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures at elevated heights. - Creating structures, forms, or chutes and pouring concrete. - Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture and laying hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors. - Filling cracks and defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding patches as needed. - Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using various tools. - General laboring, including cleaning construction sites as directed by managers. - Loading and unloading building materials, tools, and equipment, and transporting them around the site. - Performing any additional duties as assigned. Requirements We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria: - Some experience in the construction industry is preferable, but not essential. - A friendly demeanor, strong time management skills, and a solid work ethic are essential. - A commitment to learning and developing skills within the industry. - A sound understanding of health and safety procedures. - Reliability and a strong work ethic. - Proficiency in fabricating and installing custom joinery and cabinetry. - Experience with general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, skirting, and architraves. - The ability to measure and cut materials accurately. - A collaborative spirit and the ability to work as part of a team. - A commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workspace. - Willingness to collaborate with other trades as necessary. - Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
