About the Role
We are seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen operations at Christchurch Airport. In this fast-paced environment, you will be instrumental in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen. Your responsibilities will range from food preparation to dishwashing, all while delivering friendly service and upholding our high standards. This is a casual position, with hours dependent on business needs.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Assist with food preparation, portioning, and plating for service.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, dining, and public areas.
- Wash dishes and sanitize kitchen equipment.
- Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and manual handling procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and follow supervisor instructions.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in a similar kitchen or catering role.
- Flexibility, reliability, and physical fitness, along with a strong work ethic.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to health and safety.
- An NZQA Food Handling Certificate (Units 167 & 168) and experience with kitchen cleaning equipment are preferred.
