    Bail Support Officer We are excited to announce a new opportunity to join our team as a Bail Support Officer. This role is part of a newly established service aimed at making a positive impact in our community. The position is located at our Service Centre in Hastings and is a full-time, permanent role. About the Company At Ara Poutama Aotearoa - Department of Corrections, we are dedicated to improving public safety and reducing re-offending. We are also committed to addressing the overrepresentation of Māori in correctional facilities. About the Role The Bail Support Service has been created to ensure that courts receive accurate and timely information regarding safe bail proposals. Once bail is granted, our service provides essential support for defendants to thrive while on bail. As a Bail Support Officer, you will adopt a holistic, defendant and whānau-centric approach. This involves collaborating with defendants, their families, defence counsel, and various social service providers to prepare comprehensive bail proposals and develop effective bail support plans. About You We are seeking individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful difference for defendants and their whānau. You should be comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates are motivated, adaptable team players who are eager to learn. Skills and Experience To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following: - A strong team player with excellent communication skills, initiative, and drive - A non-judgmental attitude with the ability to recognize potential in others and help them leverage their strengths - Experience working across diverse social, cultural, and ethnic communities to facilitate positive change - Attention to detail, strong information-gathering abilities, and sound risk analysis and decision-making skills - A basic understanding of the justice system, although this is not mandatory - Adherence to health and safety practices and protocols - A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity at all times - Ability to work efficiently under pressure while meeting strict deadlines - Strong problem-solving abilities combined with excellent time management and organizational skills - Proficiency in writing structured and articulate reports - Strong computer skills and an aptitude for quickly learning new systems and processes To be considered for this role, you must possess a current Full New Zealand Driver's Licence and have the legal right to work in New Zealand. Benefits The starting salary for this role is $64,359, with appointment and remuneration reflecting relevant skills and experience.
