About the Role
We are excited to invite compassionate and community-focused individuals to express their interest in joining our volunteer 'meet and greet' team at Hawke's Bay Hospital.
Visiting a hospital can be daunting for many patients and visitors. Our volunteers play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere by providing information and assisting individuals in navigating the hospital environment. We are looking for friendly faces to help guide and support those who may have questions or require assistance.
We encourage expressions of interest from individuals of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Whether you are considering a career in healthcare or simply wish to contribute to the health sector, volunteering is a valuable way to engage with our community.
About the Team/Service/Location
Hawke's Bay is known for its excellent work-life balance, offering sunshine, beautiful beaches, outdoor adventures, and a vibrant culinary scene. About You
As a volunteer, you will need to possess the following qualities:
- A welcoming and friendly demeanor; a background in customer service is helpful but not essential.
- A genuine care for the patient journey and a willingness to support anyone attending the hospital.
- Acceptance of all people and cultures; an understanding of Tikanga Maori or Te Reo would be particularly appreciated.
- Availability for at least one shift per week (Monday to Friday) from 10 AM to 2 PM. We are seeking individuals who can make a regular commitment for the next 12 months.
- Willingness to attend a selection interview and comply with any required police vetting.
- Ability to participate in mandatory training related to organizational, cultural, or health and safety requirements for volunteers.
- Commitment to uphold the values of Te Whatu Ora, which include Respect, Improvement, Teamwork, and Care.
As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to:
