About the Role We are currently seeking experienced Welders to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of welding tasks, requiring familiarity with different welding techniques and equipment. The position may involve travel across the country to support our projects, so a flexible approach to work locations is preferred. Key responsibilities include: - Utilizing various welding techniques with different metals, hand tools, power tools, specialized welding tools, and heavy machinery. - Igniting torches or starting power supplies and striking arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, thereby completing electrical circuits. - Operating safety equipment and adhering to safe work practices. - Identifying faulty equipment or defective materials and notifying supervisors promptly. - Monitoring the fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials. - Setting up and operating hand and power tools commonly used in the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. - Analyzing engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. - Welding using various materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys. - Selecting and installing torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to welding chart specifications or the types and thicknesses of metals. - Adjusting gas flow and pressure by connecting and turning regulator valves to achieve the desired flames. - Guiding and directing flames or electrodes on workpieces to straighten, bend, melt, or build up metal. - Performing other duties as assigned. Requirements To be considered for this position, candidates should possess: - A minimum of 1 year of relevant welding experience or a welding qualification equivalent to NZQA Level 4. - A friendly demeanor, strong time management skills, and an excellent work ethic. - A commitment to learning and developing skills within the industry. - A solid understanding of health and safety procedures. - Reliability and a strong work ethic. Benefits - Competitive pay ranging from $25.00 to $30.00 per hour. - A guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work per week. - Opportunities for professional growth and skill development. Location The role may require travel to multiple locations across New Zealand, including but not limited to Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Whanganui-Manawatu, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
