About the Role
We are seeking an Isolation Planner to play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable planning of traction power isolations within the Auckland Metro network. In this position, you will be responsible for developing detailed isolation plans and documentation, coordinating with teams across KiwiRail, and providing technical advice to ensure field crews and stakeholders can safely execute work around live overhead line equipment (OLE). Your efforts will support both daily operations and major projects throughout the network.
This role is essential to our commitment to safety, planning, and collaboration, ensuring that every isolation is executed correctly the first time, every time.
Requirements
To thrive in this role, you will need a strong understanding of electrical systems, a proactive approach to planning, and the confidence to guide others through safety-critical tasks. Specifically, we are looking for candidates with:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in traction systems (maintenance, construction, or engineering)
- Knowledge of electrical industry statutes and best practices
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- A right-first-time mindset with attention to detail
- NZ electrical registration or a tertiary qualification in electrical engineering
Additionally, it would be beneficial if you possess:
- In-depth knowledge of 25kV AC traction systems
- Experience in OLE construction or maintenance
- Electrical Inspector registration under the Electricity Act
- Experience with high voltage electrical installations and proficiency in planning tools, especially Excel
