About the Role
We are currently looking for a Mental Health Act (MHA) Officer to join our Lakes Mental Health and Addictions team in Rotorua and Taupo. This full-time position involves 40 hours of work per week and is crucial for the coordination and application of the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act in the Lakes district.
In this role, you will work closely with a dedicated team of clinicians and administrators, ensuring compliance with the legal processes associated with the Mental Health Act and the SACAT Act. Your responsibilities will include regular communication with court officials and legal executives to uphold the rights of tangata whai i te ora (patients).
As a member of the Mental Health Management Administration Support Team, you will provide administrative support to the Clinical Director, contributing to a supportive, inclusive, and diverse work environment. We seek a candidate who is solution-focused, highly organized, and resilient, with a passion for walking alongside individuals on their journey to recovery.

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Experience working in a health environment, with a clear understanding of service delivery
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with a commitment to process adherence
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act (MHA) is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating professionalism
- Strong administrative skills and proficiency in the advanced MS Office suite
- The ability to work effectively under pressure
