We are currently looking for a skilled High Voltage Commissioning Technician to join our efforts on major substation and protection projects across Auckland.
About the Role
In this full-time position, you will play a critical role in testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis, and documentation related to high-voltage systems. Your contributions will be essential to maintaining the quality and safety standards we uphold. This role offers a chance to lead and mentor junior technicians, while also enhancing your own technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for commissioning and testing high-voltage systems and equipment, including switchgear, transformers, and relays. You will troubleshoot faults in substation protection and SCADA systems, interpret technical drawings, wiring schematics, and equipment manuals, and maintain detailed test and commissioning reports.
Additionally, you will update as-built documentation and drawings, collaborate with engineers, site teams, and project managers to ensure the success of projects, and provide support and guidance to junior technicians on-site. Upholding and ensuring compliance with all health and safety procedures is also a crucial aspect of this role.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for candidates who possess a Diploma or BTech in Electrical Engineering and are registered with the EWRB, or eligible for registration in New Zealand. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of hands-on experience with high-voltage commissioning (33kV and above) and a proven understanding of protection systems, testing protocols, and SCADA integration.
You should be skilled in using diagnostic tools, secondary injection equipment, and high-voltage procedures, with strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving abilities. A valid New Zealand driver’s license and physical fitness for on-site work are required.
