About the Role
We are currently seeking an Aftercare Worker to join our dedicated team at Christchurch Men's Prison. In this role, you will collaborate with clinical, peer support, and cultural staff to provide a comprehensive approach to support our clients. Your responsibilities will involve working with tangata whaiora both inside the prison and in the community, which will require effective management of a diverse and busy workload.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering educational and therapeutic groups within the prison setting.
- Facilitating aftercare discussions and group sessions both inside and outside the prison.
- Working one-on-one with clients and their whanau when appropriate.
- Supporting a multidisciplinary team of clinical and cultural staff.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A qualification in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, or Mental Health and Addictions.
- Registration with an allied health profession such as Social Work, Occupational Therapy, NZAC, or DAPAANZ (or be in the process of obtaining this).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- A solid understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, along with knowledge of tikanga Māori and te reo.
- A non-judgmental and compassionate approach when working with tangata whaiora.
You will become a valued member of our dedicated team that operates across various prison sites, as well as a part of the larger Odyssey House and Purapura Whetu whanau.
