Gisborne Hospital is a 110-bed acute care facility serving a diverse geographical area known as Tairawhiti, which extends up the East Cape of New Zealand. We provide healthcare to a population of approximately 54,000 people and are well-supported by comprehensive surgical services and a full range of diagnostic facilities, including a new MRI and CT scanner. We maintain strong ties with our tertiary referral center located in Waikato.
Situated on the eastern coast of New Zealand’s North Island, Gisborne is renowned as the first city in the world to witness the sunrise each day. Our region boasts stunning golden sand beaches, bush-clad mountains, and lush farmlands, alongside significant historical landmarks and a deep connection to Maori culture. Residents enjoy a pleasant climate, short commutes, and a relaxed lifestyle, which fosters a desirable work-life balance.
