About the Role
As a Principal Physicist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our radiation oncology medical physics services. In this leadership position, you will be one of the technical leaders in our medical physics team, ensuring that we uphold the highest standards in patient care, innovation, and safety. Your responsibilities will include providing expert technical leadership, overseeing quality assurance programs, and contributing to groundbreaking research and innovation. This position offers you the opportunity to mentor and inspire others while influencing policy, research, and technological advancements in our department.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead on oncology medical physics services
- Ensure compliance with national and international guidelines and safety standards
- Drive the research, development, and implementation of new techniques and technologies
- Provide expert advice to clinicians, radiographers, and other healthcare professionals
- Mentor and supervise junior medical physicists and registrars
About the Team/Service
Our radiation oncology service is part of a regional cancer center equipped with advanced Varian systems, including 3 TrueBeam, Halcyon, Bravos HDR, and an ARIA/Eclipse environment, as well as a Cannon LB CT scanner and Xstrahl superficial x-ray system. We provide a comprehensive range of external beam treatment options, including SRT, SABR, TSET, and TBI, as well as image-guided HDR brachytherapy for gynecological and prostate cancers. Our friendly team of 11 physicists is committed to clinical excellence and is dedicated to publishing and presenting our work whenever possible. Additionally, we are an ACPSEM accredited training center with a strong record of training medical physicists.

About You
We are looking for a physicist with significant experience and demonstrated leadership capabilities, as well as a passion for mentoring and team development. You should hold ACPSEM accreditation or an equivalent international qualification. A PhD, experience in an academic setting, and a record of publications are preferred. The remuneration for this position will be based on your experience level and aligned with the prevailing collective agreement.
