About the Company We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland, dedicated to providing health and disability services to over half a million individuals in central Auckland. Our organization also offers regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, along with specialist national services for the entire country of Aotearoa New Zealand. Our primary facilities include Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre, and Starship Children's Hospital, all located in the heart of Auckland. As a part of Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand, we play a crucial role in the daily operations of the national health system, ensuring that healthcare functions are delivered efficiently at local, district, regional, and national levels. We are proud to be an Accredited Employer with Immigration New Zealand, which can assist those in need of a work visa. About the Role We are currently seeking Specialist Anaesthetists for full-time, permanent positions at our modern, world-renowned tertiary hospital in beautiful Auckland. These roles will be based at both Greenlane and Auckland City Hospital. Our Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine provides extensive services across various surgical procedural disciplines. This includes neurosurgery, ophthalmology, urology, trauma, intra-abdominal, breast, endocrine surgery, orthopaedics, vascular, solid organ transplant, and interventional radiology, as well as acute and chronic pain management. Many of our patients are complex tertiary or national referrals. As part of the broader responsibilities of an anaesthesia specialist, you will also engage in short stay anaesthesia at our Greenlane campus. Our department is heavily involved in clinical research related to anaesthesia, maintaining strong ties with the ANZCA Clinical Trials Network and the University of Auckland. We regularly participate in multi-centre trials and contribute to various authorship and governance activities. Additionally, we have a robust teaching program, with several primary and final examiners for the ANZCA examinations, and many of our specialists have held leadership roles within ANZCA and NZSA. At Te Whatu Ora, we serve a diverse population, and achieving equitable health outcomes is a top priority, particularly for our Māori community. Experience in delivering healthcare within a culturally safe framework, along with a commitment to equity, is essential for this role. Requirements The ideal candidate will possess clinical experience in pain management and some or all of the subspecialty areas mentioned above. You should either be registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. If you currently hold overseas medical qualifications and are not registered in New Zealand, you will need to provide source verification of your qualifications as part of your registration application. For further details regarding the registration process and source verification, please visit the Medical Council of New Zealand website. You will become part of a high-performing, close-knit, and supportive team that is united by a passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centric outcomes.
