About the Role We are seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to join our dedicated team at Te Whetu Tawera, the Adult Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit for Auckland District Health Board. This is a permanent, full-time position requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a requirement to participate in the on-call roster. In this role, you will be integral to the recovery journey of our Tangata Whai ora, utilizing your skills and expertise to enhance health outcomes. Te Whetu Tawera is a 58-bed unit, which includes a 12-bed ICU, and is staffed by a team of highly skilled Psychiatrists, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals. Together, we provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults facing serious mental health challenges. We collaborate closely with service users, their families, and eight community mental health teams to promote recovery. Our facility is purpose-built and located at the main Auckland City Hospital site, near the Auckland University Medical School. This prime location allows easy access to the beautiful Auckland City Domain and all that central Auckland has to offer. Requirements To be considered for this position, you must be a medical practitioner registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand and eligible for Vocational Registration in Psychiatry, along with possessing an Annual Practising Certificate. We are looking for a proactive Psychiatrist who has a keen interest in adult acute inpatient psychiatry. You will be part of one of four inpatient clinical teams, each consisting of a Consultant, a Registrar, and a House Officer. You will enjoy a supportive and diverse working environment, rich in clinical teaching opportunities. Participation in the adult mental health Consultant on-call roster is also a requirement of this role.
