As the regional hub for the Midland area, we provide comprehensive services to a diverse population.
About the Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Specialist to join our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) department at Waikato Hospital. In this permanent, full-time position, you will be an integral part of a team of OMS specialists, delivering regional acute, elective, and outpatient services.

Our OMS department is unique in New Zealand, as we perform both ablative surgery and microvascular free flap reconstruction.
This role requires participation in after-hours on-call duties on a 1-in-4 basis, but you will have strong support from junior medical staff, including house officers and registrars. You will also play a key role in the education and development of trainees, as well as visiting medical and dental students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide efficient and effective assessment and management of patients in line with accepted professional guidelines.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation and communication regarding all treatments provided.
- Participate in regular service meetings to foster collaboration with colleagues and management.
- Offer clinical supervision and teaching to medical officers assigned to the service.
